Description of Process for this Submission
Brayers are used to paint simple color patterns and gradations on paper using ink that would otherwise be scraped up and thrown away. Text is sketched on tracing paper and overlaid onto these backgrounds to create a layout composition. Wood and metal type are chosen and set on the press, registered to the traced layout. Prints are made on blank paper to proof the print and the final monoprint is made on the original brayer-painted piece. Unique monoprint. 1/1
